LA Rams Might Actually Be Goats In Disguise

No fans? No problem.  The Rams are rolling at the moment.  Todd Gurley II got out of his sophomore slump.  Goff used to be gofful.  Not anymore.  Sean McVay wasn’t kidding when he said he was gonna change things around.  These Rams look so different from last year.  The offense is scoring, a lot and the defense is not only keeping up with offenses but they’re playing with them.  But the Rams haven’t just transformed overnight.  That’s not how it works.  It can appear to be like that though.  First you bring in McVay.  He’s the youngest coach in the league.  He’s also a millennial.  Not only will he outlive all of the other coaches, but he’ll live Tweet and Instagram the funerals too.  He’s by his own words cool which is extremely saddening but it’s alright.

The top factor that separates this team from last year is the offense.  Remember last season when Gurley got wrecked by a fan on Twitter?  Because that was awesome.  Jared was gofful last season and the offense was borderline NAIA level.  They were bad.  This year it’s a refreshing twist.  Gurley straightened himself out and Goff actually looks like a football player.  And a good one at that.  They have more weapons with the addition of Sammy Watkins.  Don’t forget Pharoh Cooper and Tavon Austin.  Cooper started the Jacksonville game with a 103 yard kick return for a touchdown..  These guys highlight a very interesting offense.  When they’re clicking they can run up the score with ease.  Unless it’s 2016 Todd Gurley.  That guy couldn’t run down a mountain.  But new year new Todd.  The Rams are currently top ten in total yards and passing yards per game.  They sit at 13th in rushing yards per game, but that’s great from where they were a year ago.  This team did a 180 and it’s starting to show.  McVay must be giving them some of Cali’s finest.  But whatever it is he needs to keep doing it.

The defense of the Rams isn’t their strongest part of the game.  But they’re 4-2 so it’s doing something right.  They allow a good bit of yards and points every game.  But if you look at last week for example they allowed 17 to Jacksonville.  In those 17 points they gave up almost 400 total yards of offense.  But they had 5 sacks, 1 interception, 1 blocked kick and a punt and kick return for a TD.  They were all over Bortles and his offense.  They won this game because of the effort on the defensive and special teams side.  The Rams only losses were to Seattle and Washington.  Both of those games were a one possession game.  This defense gave up 130 yards a touchdown to Fournette.  But have you seen the guy?  I’d give him whatever he wants too if it means he isn’t going to spear me.  I’d rather get speared by Edge or Batista than this dude.  Fournette got rid of his braces somewhat recently.  If you get tackled by a grown man with braces then go hang up the cleats.  You’re done.  Brace face Fournette could’ve been a specimen in this league.   But it’s nice to dream.  While he did have a great game Fournette suffered an ankle sprain.  If you think about that then the LA Rams defense really is great.  They didn’t injur Fournette, they just let him do it himself.  And we are our own worst enemies.  Congrats on LA for this groundbreaking stategy.  If you let your opponent take himself out you can never lose.  The Rams have Arizona this weekend.  Look for them to have this same strategy against Adrian Peterson.

I know there’s still a lot of season left.  But the Rams are 4-2 and leading the NFC West.  The rest of their schedule isn’t easy by any means.  They have Houston, Minnesota, Philly, Seattle, Arizona twice and Tennessee along with a few others.  The majority of the 10 games they have left are against teams with a .500 record or better.  I don’t know if the Rams can get it done this season just because of inexperience.  But if that offense keeps rolling the way it is and Goff can develop a little more these Rams could be a threat come the playoffs.
