On this day in 2006, Kobe Bryant scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors in a 122-104 victory. It is the second-highest amount of points scored in a single game all-time, only behind Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game in 1962. Bryant played a total of 42 minutes, where he shot 28/46 (60%) from the field 7/13 (53%) from the three and 18/20 from the free-throw line. He also added six rebounds and three steals. It remained as the best single-game performance of Bryant’s Hall of Fame career.
Fun fact of the game: Bryant only had three turnovers (81 points) which was not the highest on his team. Lamar Odom led the Lakers with four turnovers that game.
