Battle of the Bay Preview

It’s come down to this. Two Bays. One Tampa. One Green. Two #12s under center. The playoff matchup so many people have waited for. It’s the Battle of Bay.

Earlier this season Tampa captured Aaron Rodgers and the rest of Green Bay’s booty in a 38-10 thrashing. But that was regular season, and this is the playoffs. This battle is also being fought at the Green Bay instead of the Tampa Bay. Be prepared for some of these Buccaneers to shiver their timbers all over Lambeau Field come Sunday.

After back-to-back losses to both the Rams and the Chiefs, the Buccaneers ended the last five weeks of the season on fire starting with their bye week (hey no loss there). Then they absolutely catapulted themselves by winning four straight games against three different teams, all below .500 (Minnesota, Detroit, Atlanta twice). This set up a Wild Card match against another below .500 team where Tampa would remain victorious once again setting up a third meeting against an overrated New Orleans team that played two real opponents all year. But after facing no adversity whatsoever, here they are trying to go all the way.

The only problem with that plan is Aaron Rodgers. He’s playing like the MVP, and is most likely going to walk away with it. In the divisional round Rodgers was breezing his way through the top ranked defense in the Rams. Going for nearly 300 yards on 23 completions averages out to over 12 yards per completion. To go along with that 2 passing TDs and a QBR of nearly 110. Not too shabby for the top ranked defense in the league. And they’re hosting a playoff game in Wisconsin mid-January, against a team from Florida…

The fact that Brady is still playing is miraculous in itself. Although I don’t think that’s going to be enough against this Packers club. I like Green Bay in this matchup, and you should too.
