On this day in 1879, the US National Archery Association formed in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Today, the headquarters of USA Archery is in Colorado Springs, Colorado. USA Archery sanctions over 200 events every year, both indoor and outdoor, including the collegiate National Championships. Archery is ranked as one of the safest sports to play in America. The injury rate per 1,000 participants is rated below golf, tennis and fishing. Who would have thought?
