On this day in 1969, the Pittsburgh Steelers made a decision that would affect their franchise forever. They hired Charles “Chuck” Noll as their head coach. Noll coached the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1969 until 1991. In that time, Noll won an impressive 4 Super Bowl championships from 1974-1979 with the Steelers. Noll was 4-0 in AFC Championships & 4-0 in the Super Bowl with an overall 16-8 postseason record. Chuck Noll was inducted in the Football Hall-of-Fame in 1993. The Pittsburgh Steelers remain one of the only teams in the NFL with six Super Bowl championships.
