Hornets’ LaMelo Ball Wins NBA Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month

It’s everyone’s favorite basketball family. That’s right, the Ball brothers. This time it’s the baby Ball brother. The Charlotte Hornets rookie notched his first Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month award. This was only a little spooky as the day before he was announced Eastern Conference Player of the Month, I watched the movie Employee of the Month for the first time. Greta movie BTW. If anything LaVar has said is true (he does have a way about doing that) then we can only assume it will be the fist of many awards. Earlier last month, LaMelo Ball became the youngest player in league history to notch a triple-double (22 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists) in a 113-105 win over the Atlanta Hawks. Ball is only a 19-year-old, so he has the entire horizon ahead of him. He’s got enough talent to exceed both of his brothers, but we’ve seen promising stars fall out of orbit plenty of times before. But I think Charlotte is a good fit for LaMelo. Currently, Charlotte is the 8th seed and if the season ended today, they would just barely make the playoffs setting up a 1st round matchup with Philly. Will Charlotte make the playoffs? It’s definitely possible. The eastern conference is wide open at the moment, and there are plenty of teams below .500 right now. Sure Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month is a minuscule award in the grand scheme of things. But it’s a promising start to what is surely going to be an exciting career.
