Tedy Bruschi Makes the Most Foolish Statement of the Year, and It’s Only February 5th

I am a big believer in not listening to people when they say stupid things. Just because somebody says something, it does mean there is any merit to it, whatsoever. This is one of those times.

Tedy Bruschi is great. Hall of Famer, one of the best linebackers in the history of the game, all that stuff. But this was just idiotic. This guy, who hasn’t played in the NFL for over a decade comes out and says Matt Stafford is just not tough enough to play in New England. I mean wow. Bruschi must have taken one too many hits to the head, which would make sense based on that statement. Matthew Stafford? Not tough enough? This guy has played his entire career with the Detroit Lions, historically the worst franchise in NFL history. And let’s not forget he’s put up some extremely impressive numbers while being there. Seven straight years throwing over 4,000 yards, over 45,000 passing yards in his career and nearly 300 total TDs. Stafford was the fastest player in NFL history to 40,000 passing yards (147 games) and was only the fourth player in league history to throw for 5,000 yards when he did so. Stafford also broke his back in a game and stayed in, because he wanted his team to win. But playing through a broken back must not mean anything right? According to Bruschi, Stafford just isn’t “tough enough” for the “Patriot Way.” Or maybe instead Matt Patricia tried to come to Detroit and teach the Lions about the “Patriot Way” and he failed. Miserably. Yeah it’s a total mind***k why Stafford would not want to go to the team that Patricia came from. Makes no sense right. There’s no way, because that’s too logical. Naturally, if Matty Stafford doesn’t want to go to New England it must be something lacking on his end.

Some say it’s not about the physical toughness, but the mental toughness. That also doesn’t apply, because you have to be mentally strong to play for the Detroit Lions, with how bad they are historically. It’s a lot harder to go out and play for a team you know won’t win time and time again. Matthew Stafford played 12 season with the Lions. That says enough right there about this guy. You think grit, you think of Matt Stafford.

All of this isn’t about Matt Stafford being tough enough (which he obviously is). It’s about the fact that someone gives their s***** opinion, and everyone starts to question things. Nobody has ever once tried to say Matt Stafford is not a tough guy, until Bruschi did. Now people are questioning it. That’s the problem with our society today. Someone can say something way out of left field, and regardless of the validity of it, people may believe it.

Now don’t get me wrong here. Tedy Bruschi is entitled to his opinion. Everyone is. But you don’t get to say this guy isn’t tough, because he won’t come to New England. That’s just ignorant. Tedy Bruschi is not the deciding factor or Matt Stafford’s toughness. Sorry he doesn’t want to be apart of the Belichick Cult. That does not, in any way, take away from the gusto of Matthew Stafford. This is just another example of somebody saying something that doesn’t matter for the sake of views. It’s just sad. Why is he so offended that an NFL player doesn’t want to play in New England? It’s pretty funny when you really think about it. I think the truth of the matter is Bruschi knows Stafford is tougher than him, and he hates it. Either that, or he is going out of his way to be offended by things that don’t concern him. Given today’s climate, that could definitely be it.
