Why the NBA All-Star Game Should Not Happen

I mean there’s a global pandemic going on. Is that not enough?

Well there are other reasons. The NBA is in an odd spot right now. The players had about three days for an offseason before the league decided to start the 2020-2021 season. Last season ended on October 11th and this season started on December 22nd. For the teams that went on a deep playoff run, their offseason was almost nonexistent. And now we’re a month out from what is supposed to be the All-Star game. And that is a terrible idea. I mean, games have been getting called off left and right because of safety protocols. Players are exhausted, and it’s starting to show. I know it’s rare for the NBA to be in a position where they really need the cash, but come on now. We’re lucky to have live sports right now. Let’s not push it. The All-Star game is supposed to be in Atlanta, where let’s just say people don’t take the rona as serious as they should. You wanna talk about a place where things are gonna spread like wildfire, it’s Hotlanta. It’s just not worth it. I feel like this is a great way to prolong the season even more, because of the inevitable setbacks that are gonna come from it. The second half of this season is already gonna be a tough stretch. Why make it more complicated? Just have them play 2K or NBA Street. Who cares in all honesty? The All-Star game is boring enough as it is. Nobody tries until the last couple minutes. Nobody plays defense. It just really doesn’t make sense. For how the NBA handled the bubble and everything that went down there, this would definitely be a step in the wrong direction. Let the players have a little time off. Just say no Adam Silver. It’s like heroin. Just say no.
