In the beginning, it started to look like it was gonna be all Memphis. The Grizz jumped out to a blazing 22-2 start. They ended the first quarter up 31-16. It was another poor night’s shooting from the 3-point line for the Lake Show, but they were able to make up for their lackluster shooting with a little something called they have the best basketball player in the universe on their ball club. But the Lakers did shoot 69% from the free-throw line (nice). It was just another day in the regal life of the King. He helped lead a 19-3 run for LA late in the third quarter that saw them overtake the lead from the Grizzlies. James would end the night with 28 points on 9-15 shooting (60%) with 9 rebounds and 8 assists. But the return of Anthony Davis was the real difference maker for Los Angeles. Davis had 35 points on 16-27 shooting (59%) along with 9 rebounds and two steals of his own. Him and LeBron both did it in 34 minutes. How much more efficient could you ask for? Marc Gasol was out there getting active on both ends, and Kuzma brought 20 points (57% shooting), 10 rebounds and five assists to the table. Grayson Allen, Jonas Vallanciunas and Ja Morant all had good nights, but LA was just too good. They overcame from behind a ton, and it didn’t stop them at any point. They kept their heads down and their feet moving. And it resulted in their seventh straight victory, their fifth straight at home. Sunday night, the Lakers find themselves in a rematch of last season’s Western Conference Finals, where they will look to keep their good fortunes rolling against the Joker and his Nuggets. What’s 9 + 10? 21. And that’s exactly what LA is going for Sunday night.
