I don’t exactly know how this happened, but I think it was the equivalent to watching a supernova. After the Lakers Nuggets game was over, I found myself in a precarious position. Usually there’s no later games than the west coast games we see in the NBA. But here at AS we like to branch out. So I went intergalactic on this one. I had to do a double-take when I saw the title. I love the fact that there’s a basketball league called “Galaxy League” because we don’t see enough of that. It’s usually some acronym that has no real thought process to it. But Galaxy League is out of this world, no pun intended.
I’m not a Linguistics expert, but I believe the commentary was in Russian. It sounded Russian, at least I think it did. If it was Russian, then Russia would be credited with having the best name for a basketball league in history, both ours and alien. The players themselves didn’t seem that old, so I’m not exactly sure if it was a professional league. But I sure hope it was. The two team names were Pulsar and Flicker and I have a few guesses as to what those are, but I think I’d be pretty off beat. All I know is the Russian commentary was exhilarating, I don’t care if I can’t understand it. I can understand human drama at it’s finest.
Sadly, I did say it was like watching a supernova. I can only imagine that an international basketball broadcast from Russia might not have the greatest connection. My time watching the Galaxy League was short-lived, like watching a piercing comet burn through the sky only to see it vanish without a trace. It felt like watching Interstellar for the first time, because I only had more questions that answers. But I do think another dimension was involved. All I really know is that I’ll be chasing the Galaxy League forever if I have to, but I will find out more about its cosmic ways.
But in all seriousness, why can’t NBA courts look like these?
