Wizards Top Rockets During Duel in DC

John Wall vs. his former team. Both of the #14 seeds from each conference. It’s a battle as old as witchcraft vs. science. In fact, it is witchcraft vs. science. Bradley Beal reigned Sorcerer Supreme once again, going for 37 points on 58% shooting, 8 rebounds and three steals. It turns out Beal had enough magic powder for the rest of his wizards, because Russell Westbrook went for 16 points, 13 rebounds and 15 assists. Moritz Wagner, Rui Hachimura, Robin Lopez and Raul Neto all scored in double figures. Davis Bertans was lighting it up from deep, nailing 5-6 three-pointers and the wizards were riding high on their Nimbus 2000s tonight.

Houston put up a valiant effort, objectively. Unfortunately, these Rockets didn’t have enough fuel in the end. Daniel House Jr. (17), Jae’Sean Tate (18) and David Nwaba (19) all scored in double-digits. More impressively, they all did so on 60% shooting or better. John Wall led the Rockets charge against his former squad with 29 points, but he did so with a measly 38% shooting. He did add 11 assists and three rebounds which helped, but ultimately it was not his best showing. One thing is certain though. When John Wall was making gang signs he was at his most dangerous (on the basketball court). He was arguably a top five player in the league when he was having those kinds of nights. Houston needs to achieve his next super saiyan. The Rockets in total didn’t have a great shooting night, making 8-37 from deep (22%) while DC shot 40% from beyond the arc and 52% from the field. That definitely makes a difference.

I think tonight should be a valuable lesson for everyone. Witchcraft beats science.

Neil deGrasse Tyson might disagree with that statement

Who wants to bet Bradley Beal won’t go for three straight 35-point games?
