Welp, I guess the fly eagles fly motto has crashed and burned for a guy like Wentz. Only a few years ago, the Eagles won their first Super Bowl championship. Despite his season ending injury, Wentz was in terrific form that season, and most likely could’ve been the MVP that year. But he got hurt, and Nick Foles took them to the promised land.
Fast-forward a few years and a lot of people are starting to wondering if Carson Wentz still has what it takes to get the job done. But a fresh start should help out. The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to trade Wentz for a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick, that has potential to turn into a first. The Colts were a great team this past season, and flew under the radar for a bit. Phillip Rivers did an okay job, and we all imagined he would ride off into the sunset after this season. Now the Colts have to pick up the pieces, and Wentz could give them the spark they need to become true contenders.
Indianapolis Head Coach Frank Reich used to be the offensive coordinator for Wentz in 2017, when he was playing at his best. Indy also had the cap space to make this happen, which is a win for them. I’m not sure how good Wentz will be next season, but the thing is, he doesn’t need to be an outstanding talent or have an MVP season. The Colts have a solid team, and they were really only a few pieces away from being contenders. I think this is a good move for Indy. And even if he doesn’t pan out in Indianapolis, it’s not like they broke the bank to get him.
