Why the Miami Dolphins Need to Re-Sign Ryan Fitzmagic

The Dolphins overachieved last year. Nobody was expecting them to be 10-6. Nobody was expecting the defense to be as good as it was. Now the Dolphins didn’t make the playoffs this past season, but I thin it will eventually be a good thing. I think that will make them hungrier for success this year. They just barely missed out last season. But because of that, the entire organization might be more inclined to work a little harder, to prove that Miami belongs in the conversation among teams in the AFC in contention. There are a few ways that could help out Miami along the way. The first is an actual offseason. The Dolphins were one of, if not the youngest team in the league last season. Having a real offseason could benefit those young guys tremendously. They can build good habits, and get in a groove before they just get thrown into the coliseum to fight some lions. I think it’s fair to expect Coach Flo to have Miami as one of the most disciplined teams in the league this season. The entire culture has been changed around since Adam Gase left, for the better. I was on the phone once with a Dolphins player after a major trade had happened and he himself had no idea what the hell Gase was doing either. But those times are gone, and today is anew.

The biggest questions surrounding the Dolphins will of course be the quarterback situation. Tua Tagovailoa will be in his second season, and all eyes will really be on him after his lack-luster rookie season. But here’s something nobody is really talking about. Who will be the back-up? Ryan Fitzpatrick signed a two-year contract with the Dolphins two seasons ago. Since then, he has been great when called upon, and it is a great asset to the team. I think he is probably the best back-up quarterback in the NFL; he definitely was this season. There were multiple times when Tagovailoa wasn’t getting the job done, so Fitzpatrick would come in and usually right the ship. He is a reliable QB with a great head on his shoulders. He can also sling tha rock like Uncle Rico. The guy is a great veteran player, and a better teammate. If Tua ends up not panning out as the Dolphins hope he will, Fitzmagic is a great option if you need a QB to go out there an win a game. We’ve seen him do it before. I’m sure he could go be the starter for a year, but moving can be so stressful. Might as well kick off the shoes and go to the beach Ryan. Enjoy those sandy shores and relax. He is a valuable piece of the puzzle that Miami is trying to solve right now.

Ryan Fitzmagic is worth the price of admission. Let’s not forget that.

Re-live the NFL’s best play from this past season. It was Fitzmagic at its finest.
