This was a good quality win. Schröder was back in the lineup, and his presence was felt as he added 22 points while Montrezl Harrell added 17 (58% shooting) points and 9 assists. The King led the Lakers in all major statistical categories. It was the 49th time LeBron has done that in his career. Kevin Garnett has the second most games where he led his team in every category, but he has less than 30. It was another poor shooting night for the Lakers, and I know every has questions about their 3-point shooting. Right now, it feels like the can’t buy a bucket from deep, and it isn’t necessarily a new feeling. They do have time for the stars to align, but I would be a little concerned at the moment. The game has evolved a lot in more recent years, and shooting 3s well usually translates to success in the league. And they shot 7-27 from deep last night. Neither Portland or LA was at full strength, and you could feel it out on the floor.
It doesn’t help that Adam Silver and the rest of the league aren’t doing the players any favors with the scheduling. The second-half of the season’s schedule was recently released, and it’s extremely chaotic. Some teams will be playing 40 games in 68 days. Factor in travel plus fatigue and it’s not a great result.
