It was 29 points at the half. 73-44. That’s not good. Sure it was an off-night for the Warriors, but ouch. I wouldn’t call myself a Warriors fan, but I’m not sad to see them lose by a billion. Draymond Green is the heartbeat of that team, and his absence didn’t help the Golden State cause. With that being said, his being there doesn’t mean this game would’ve gone any different. The Lakers finally came over some of their shooting woes, going 35% from beyond the arc tonight (they were above 40% majority pf the game), while Golden state was 8-34 from 3-point land. The Lakers also out-rebounded the Warriors 60-35. Golden State only had three offensive rebounds. That is not good.
The King had a season low tonight in minutes played, and he led all scorers with 19 points on 58% shooting. He also added six rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks. Despite not playing for very long, the King was extremely active tonight, and he earned his 4th quarter rest. Despite his performance, tonight was a community effort for the Lake Show. Alex Caruso (13), Markieff Morris (13), Kyle Kuzma (12), Dennis Schröder (12) and Horton-Tucker (11) all went for double-digits tonight. LA had six guys shoot above 50%, with everybody deciding to spread the wealth tonight. It was a group effort, and LA has looked like the defending champions the last two games.
This NBA season has been weird. If I was a Warriors fan, I wouldn’t be worried after tonight. The Cavaliers got blown out by about 40 against the Warriors back in 2016, and we all know about how that ended. No this isn’t the same situation at all, but there is still some truth to it. Every team has an off-night every now and then. But it never helps when you have that off-night against the defending NBA champions.
