The Danish Delight Sweeps the Thai Fighter in Round of 16 at Swiss Open

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. This guy is like a machine. If Khabib Nurmagomedov were Danish, and played badminton, I think we have a match. The Dane was on full display in the second round of the YONEX Swiss Open, taking on Khosit Phetpradab, the Thai Fighter.

In the first game, Axelsen started edging away early, and by the first interval it was 11-7 in the Dane’s favor. The game would never be any closer after that, and the Danish Delight would take it 21-13. The Thai Fighter wasn’t playing poorly, Axelsen was just rolling today. As the match continued, he only got better (much like Khabib Nurmagomedov in his fights).

The second game started much like the first game ended; with Viktor Axelsen scoring points. A new game may have started, but it was the same old story from the Danish Delight. Axelsen would jump out to an early 6-0 lead, and he wouldn’t look back.

It didn’t count but this tweener by the Thai Fighter was awesome

That play by the Dane was a great example of how this match went. Axelsen was relentless and aggressive, keeping the Thai Fighter on his heels for most of the match. It felt like Axelsen was doing a great job of setting up his shots in the second game. He looked cool as a cucumber, gliding and cutting across the court shuttling everything in his path. He would roll on to a 21-7 victory in the second game, taking the match 2-0.

The Danish Delight will be going up against the winner of the Brian Yang/Shesar Hiren Rhustavito match going on right now. Viktor Axelsen is currently the only European player left in the men’s singles event. How long will it last? Who knows. I’m just ready for the quarter-finals.
