Men’s Singles Semi-Finals Set for YONEX Swiss Open

The semi-finals are here, but the surprises are not. That’s because the Danish Delight is charging through the competition right now. He is one determined Dane, and after three straight rounds, Axelsen looks like the clear favorite to take it all. Kidambi Srikanth might disagree, and he’ll try to stop Viktor dead in his tracks. Unfortunately, the Danish Delight is shuttling to the moon right now. Srikanth is a top ranked player in the world, and he’ll need all those skills tomorrow. Nothing against Kidambi, but I’m going with the Dane on this one.

Lee Zii Jia has quietly been clear-cutting down the competition along his way to the semi-finals. The Brazen Malaysian Sensation has been breezing his way through the tournament, but he’s going up against a wild card in Kunvlavut Vitidsarn. Vitidsarn may be the No. 8 seed, but he has been dominating this tournament as far as well. During his quarter-final match, Vitidsarn throttled Ajay Jayaram 21-9, 21-6. It was the only quarter-final match where a player did not score in double-digits. Sure Lee Zii Jia is the favorite, and the higher ranked player, but Vitidsarn has all the momentum right now. Everyone loves a good underdog.
