Today In Sports History (March 5, 1982)

On this day in 1964, Gaylor Perry signed with the Seattle Mariners. Gaylord was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1991, and is currently top 20 all-time for most wins by an MLB player. He is 17th to be exact, with 314. What a progressive signing for a city full of expression and progression like Seattle. It was a move so ahead of its time, that they didn’t even know it was progressive.

Gaylord Perry played for eight teams in total during his two-decade long MLB career:

San Francisco Giants

Cleveland Indians

Texas Rangers

San Diego Padres

Texas Rangers (again)

New York Yankees

Atlanta Braves

Seattle Mariners

Kansas City Royals
