The men’s singles championship is here, and so is the Danish Delight. Viktor Axelsen has been absolutely rolling the last few months, and this tournament has been no exception. He has been playing against good opponents, he’s just been on a different level lately. In the semi-finals we saw someone push the Danish Delight further than anyone else has all tournament. Kidambi Srikanth nearly stole a game from the Dane, something nobody else has done all Swiss Open. Kidambi was down early in the first game, when Axelsen jumped out to an early 6-0 lead. He wouldn’t look back from there, and would go on to take the match 21-13 (a margin of seven). The early 6-0 deficit proved to be the deciding factor in the first game.
The second game would be arguably one of the best games of the tournament so far. Axelsen would jump to an early 11-3 lead at the mid-game interval. After that, Kidambi flip everything upside down, and started surging.
An absolute SMASH by Kidambi the Indian Zombie
Kidambi wasn’t going down without a fight. He had Axelsen on the ropes a couple times in the second game. He put on a stellar performance today.
The Danish Delight was just too strong down the final stretch. I do think if Kidambi wins the second game, this match might have been very different. I do think Axelsen would have won, but winning in straight games is a lot different than having to play a third. It was a great challenge for the Dane altogether, and it was the best performance anyone has had against him thus far in the tournament.

It wasn’t a surprise that the Danish Delight is in the championship match. But some might be surprised at who he will be going against. The overall top see will be going up against the wild card, Kunlavut Vitidsarn from Thailand. Vitidsarn has been going crazy the last few rounds, stunning everyone in his path. The No. 8 seed has been handling his opponents all Swiss Open. It’s been an impressive run to watch, and it’s only fitting he’ll be in the championship against the Danish Delight. Vitidsarn was up against the No. 2 seed, Lee Zii Jia, the Brazen Malaysian Sensation in the semi-finals. The first game was extremely competitive, and Vitidsarn came out on top 21-18. In the second game, he would separate himself, winning 21-10 and taking a spot in the championship.
Its the wild card VS the top seed. This should be a good one.
