On this day in 2019, LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers) passed Michael Jordan on the NBA all-time points list with his 32,293rd point against the Denver Nuggets in a 115-99 loss. LeBron moved to 4th all-time bumping Michael to 5th all-time. LeBron would later go on to pass the late Kobe Bryant for 3rd all-time on the NBA points list. Currently, LeBron sits at 35,171 points all-time, only behind Karl Malone (36,928) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387). LeBron is the only active player with a realistic chance of passing Kareem, if he can continue his high production for a few more years. Who is to say he can’t do that, when he’s been able to do it for 18 straight years thus far. LeBron James is also the only player that is top ten all-time in points and assists in NBA history. LeBron will end up top five in both of those all-time, meanwhile there isn’t a single player that is top ten in both. That truly goes to show much quicker LeBron could have broken Kareem’s all-time scoring record. Even if the King doesn’t pass Abdul-Jabbar for No. 1 on the all-time scoring list, everyone will know it’s not because he couldn’t; it’s because he was too busy being one of the best passer’s the game has ever seen.
