It’s the matchup everyone wants to see that we might never get to watch. Neither team was at full strength, with KD and Kyrie being absent from Brooklyn and AD just getting back for the Lakers. But we’ve become used to seeing this, as neither of these teams have truly faced each other in the past couple seasons. But King James wasn’t gonna let that stop Lake City from cruising on as he put on a clinic, per usual. James led all Lakers in scoring with 33 points while shooting 67% from the field. The King rounded out his nightly outing with 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks and no turnovers. He was efficient as ever (in his 19th season at 37). LA’s supporting cast was also out and about with Malik Monk adding 22 points while shooting 50% from three-point land. Melo and Russ even decided to do their fair share, scoring 13 and 15, respectively. It was AD’s first game back since his injury, and he had a block party to celebrate. The Lakers also shot a perfect 100% from the foul line which is all you can ask for with this squad; especially considering Brooklyn shot double the amount of free throws. James Harden had to command troops last night, going for 33 points 11 rebounds and 12 rebounds. His 6 turnovers didn’t help considering he was responsible for 30% of their total turnovers, but hey it happens. Patty Mills added another 15 for Brooklyn, but nobody on the Nets was shooting well from deep. Overall, Brooklyn was 7/27 from three-point land. It was a depleted game between depleted teams, but it was a win for LA which is a lot right now considering the playoff standings. With the All-Star Break a few weeks away, I think it’s safe to say things in the Association are gonna start heating up pretty soon.
