This was easily one of the best weekends of professional football we’ve had in decades. Yet, it feels wrong going forward from this point on. Cincinnati is four quarters away from a Super Bowl. The best team in the AFC didn’t move forward because of a coin toss. Tom Brady was even up to his old tricks this past weekend.

Let’s start off with the defending Super Bowl champs as their chances for a repeat title slowly sunk away from their grasp. The Rams may have been the lower seed, but they came to play. Matt Stafford is finally getting to flourish in a system that isn’t a complete dumpster fire, so that’s pretty cool to see. Cooper Kupp was absolutely electric. No surprise there. He’s been the best receiver all year, hands down. But I think people are overlooking a few things from this game. Tom Brady proved once again the unethical lengths he’ll go to in order to win a football game. This time it was illegal human clone testing, allegedly.

Him and Belichick must’ve been running tests for years under Gillette Stadium. It’s the only logical explanation. Maybe Brady ransacked the lab on his way down south, Orochimaru-style. Thank the heavens it didn’t work this time around. I don’t know about you, but I would consider that justice.

Rounding out the NFC let’s briefly dissect a few things. Aaron Rodgers is the most loyal 49ers fan on the planet & he’s doing everything out of spite to the Green Bay franchise. I don’t blame him either. When have they ever tried to actually get him the tools necessary to succeed? Instead, they just rely on his ability to make things happen and draft back-up quarterbacks. All that aside, he really is the best fan the 49ers have. There’s no other way to explain why he’s 0-4 against them in the playoffs. Gotta respect that. He’s just a football guy that’s willing to do whatever it takes for his team to win, even if that means letting his contractually obligated team lose.

At the beginning of the year I guarantee you the only people who thought the Bengals were going to the AFC Championship were people currently living in Ohio. They hadn’t won a playoff game in over 20 years. They were 4-11-1 last year and nobody was giving them any real chances until they shocked everyone and won the AFC North this year. If you had said last season that two teams from the AFC North are gonna make the playoffs and the Baltimore Ravens are not one of them you would’ve gotten funny looks. If you said the Bengals, people would’ve laughed at you hysterically. But oh how the turntables. The Bengals beat the Chiefs at the end of the regular season, but things might be a bit different this time around. Here’s a waaay too early prediction for next season. Titans find redemption and make it out the AFC. *Fun Fact* This is also the first time in a decade where both the #1 seeds for each conference lost in the divisional round.

Where to begin? Best game of professional football maybe ever. The argument for best game of football ever belongs to Boise State and Oklahoma from the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, respectively. But this game had every single thing you could ask for, and more. But in all honesty, this game should be a wake-up call for the NFL. FIX THE OVERTIME RULES YOU DUMMIES. Whoever thought of the sudden death, all-important coin toss essentially deciding the game should be thrown into a deep cavern at high tide. It is ridiculous that a team doesn’t have a chance to score if a team scores a touchdown first. Make it like how the NCAA does overtime for football games. It could even be who’s winning after a 10-15 minute period. Either would be a better solution than the garbage we have now. The game is essentially decided by the coin toss. Don’t even get me started on how it used to be. Immediate sudden death even for field goals. Whoever thought of that should a) not be in charge of football related topics b) put in a home because they’re obviously demented. Respect to Cincinnati for what they’ve done this year. But this game was the real AFC Championship, and we all know it.
Get ready for Championship Sunday.
