The IFP Kentucky State Championships Open Singles Division Was Insane

For anyone who didn’t get to see it, the Open Singles division at the IFP Kentucky State Championships was chaotic to say the least. Foosball demigod Tony Spredeman, the overall top seed, was bounced in the semi-finals of Group A by #9 seed Jay Alaei. Alaei would go on to win Group A over Kane Gabriel. Over in Group B, #3 seed Brandon Munoz raced to the top, beating Greg Mendel in the Group B finals. But let’s not forget here, this is double elimination. Over in the loser’s bracket in Group C, Blake Robertson went on a rampage attempting to avenge his second round loss in Group B. Robertson stormed through Group C, facing Kane Gabriel in the Group C final, where Robertson would come out victorious. Don’t think we forgot about Tony Spredeman. He had to remind everywhere exactly who he is, as be blitzed through the loser’s bracket in Group D. Spredeman would go up against Greg Mendel, who lost in the Group B finals, where Spredeman would come out on top; clinching a spot in the final group.

It was the final group where things got especially spicy. Jay Alaei once again topped Tony Spredeman racing to the top while Brandon Munoz kept on rolling as well. This set up a match between the winner’s of both Group A and Group B with Brandon Munoz coming out on top over Jay Alaei, securing Munoz’s spot in the finals. Over in the loser’s bracket, the two winners of Group C and Group D, Tony Spredeman and Blake Robertson were set to face off in battle. Robertson would beat the great Spredeman, setting up a loser’s bracket finale with Blake Robertson and Jay Alaei. Robertson wouldn’t stop his campaign just yet, getting a win over Alaei and clinching a spot in the finals against Munoz. Brandon Munoz would prove to be too much to handle, as he topped Blake Robertson in the championship match.

Congrats to Brandon Munoz on his Open Singles Championship at the 2022 IFP Kentucky State Championships. If this tourney was any indicator, the world of table soccer will be only be heating up as the season progresses. Prepare yourselves. The IFP season is upon us.
