For anyone who still doesn’t know about this guy, he is a monster. Shavkat Rakhmonov AKA The Nomad is a warrior from 15th century Asia reincarnated, no other way to put it. The Kazakhstani is 15-0 in his professional MMA career, and for good reason. Only one one his fights as a pro has gone to the third round. One. It was a TKO finish for the Nomad. Not only is he a killer. He’s a balanced killer. He’s got seven submission victories along with eight KO/TKO victories. Six out of his eight knockouts came in the first round. This guy is a maniac, in the most respectful way possible. If he were born a few hundred years earlier, he’d probably be commanding an army right now, conquering empires like the dying sunset. Lucky for us, he’s a modern day gladiator that fights in a cage instead of a coliseum.

Leading up to the fight, Rakhmonov’s opponent, Carlston Harris, talked about being weary of the Nomad’s kicks and how they could be dangerous. Aaand he was right. Rakhmonov went for spinning hook kick to the body early on which didn’t fully land. He tried again a few minutes later, this time to the head. It didn’t completely land either, but that’s probably a good thing, because it did plenty of damage as is. It rocked Harris, sending him down where Shavkat would go on to land some vicious shots securing the knockout finish. Harris is by no means a pushover, as he was on a five fight win-streak himself. He just happened to run into a Kazakhstani killer in the form of the Nomad.

Shavkat Rakhmonov could be a big star in the Welterweight division in the UFC. He’s on the rise, and the rest of the 170ers have been put on notice. Kahmzat Chimaev is another rising star in the Welterweight division, and it’ll be really interesting to see how everything shakes up now with the addition of Rakhmonov’s presence. It’s a division where a few new contenders could easily break out. It’s also a division that could use some new faces at the top. Chimaev and Rakhmonov could be just that, as long as Leon Edwards gets his shot first. But that’s besides the point. The Nomad could very well have found his home inside the UFC.
