Bobby Green Saves the Day for UFC Vegas 49

Bobby King Green ladies and gentlemen. This dude is an absolute gangster. This man just fought last week at UFC 271. Green had a dominant showing against Nasrat Haqparast in a three-round affair, getting the unanimous decision and moving his record to 29-12-1. After the fight, many were advocating for the UFC veteran to get a push. Well, here it is.

Just days before UFC Vegas 49, No. 3 ranked Lightweight contender Beneil Dariush pulled out of the bout due to a broken fibula. It’s a shite situation all around, but we can only hope Dariush’s recovery goes well and that he gets back to full health soon.

On (really) short notice, Bobby Green did what a lot of guys would not do. He agreed to fight a surging Islam Makhachev on less than two weeks notice. The fight will take place at a catchweight of 160lbs. Can’t complain about that though. Green agreed on such short notice, when a lot of guys probably (definitely) would not. And he had no problem letting that be known when he agreed to the fight. Can you blame him though? Bobby Green is out to prove something here. He’s not sitting around, waiting for the stars to align. Instead, he’s gonna throw himself right into the fire to try and make some magic happen. Maybe he walks away with the biggest win of his UFC career. Maybe Makhachev submits him in the second round. This is the opportunity King Green has been in need of, and I don’t think there’s any chance he’ll shy away from the task at hand. If this thing doesn’t end up on the ground, there is definitely a chance King Green could leave Vegas with a win. Sure, Islam Makhachev could very well take him down and maul him like he’s done with most of his opponents. But who’s to say Bobby Green won’t go out there and crack Makhachev?

At this point who even cares if Green loses? The fact that he took the fight on 10 days notice (against one of the top prospects in the division) is enough in my book. But if he wins? Oh man would that shake things up in the Lightweight division.
