David Onama may be the Silent Assassin, but this win was anything but quiet. Onama was slow to start, meanwhile Gabriel Benitez was attacking Onama’s legs (with great success I might add). Benitez was landing some heavy leg kicks early which started to slow down Onama; until it didn’t. There was also a hard punch that hurt Onama’s eye which seemed to alter his vision significantly. Despite all this, the Silent Assassin kept moving forward. And oh did he move forward.

With less than a minute left in the first round, Onama backed Benitez up against the cage where he unloaded a vicious onslaught of strikes. It was roughly a 10-15 piece combo with two sides and an extra large drink.
It was Onama’s 9th win as a professional, and his first win in the UFC. But they don’t call him the Silent Assassin for nothing. David Onama has a 100% finishing rate with six KO/TKOs and three victories coming from submission. From the looks of it, this is only the beginning for David Onama.

The Silent Assassin is the first Ugandan-born fighter in the UFC. Now I’ve never been to Africa, but it seems like there’s a reoccurring theme going on here. Fighters from Africa are just built different.
The Featherweight division needs to be on notice, because the Silent Assassin is coming.
