It’s been a comeback nearly 500 days in the making, but Bryce “Thug Nasty” Mitchell is back! After a hand injury that required surgery, Thug Nasty is looking to get back in the octagon against UFC veteran Edson Barboza. You could say Barboza is battle-tested and then some. The guy has nearly 30 UFC fights and has some of the most spectacular finishes in the promotion’s history. Whether it be the first TKO by leg kicks in UFC history or one of the most crisp wheel kicks you’ve ever seen, Edson knows how to bring it; and he’s gonna have to in order to get past Mitchell.

Even though we haven’t seen him in action for 16 months, we cannot forget about Thug Nasty. The TUF veteran is 14-0 in his professional career and 5-0 since joining the UFC. He is also the second person to ever win a UFC fight via twister. Don’t be fooled by the southern hospitality and cool temperament; he is a killer with some of the slickest jiu-jitsu in the UFC.

This matchup is gonna be exciting for a few reasons. Stylistically it’s great. We have a UFC legend up against a rising star. Both guys are ranked in the Featherweight division, 10th and 11th respectively. A win for either of these guys would definitely set up a fight with someone in the top ten or top five. Some would say Mitchell has more pressure facing him, as he is still unbeaten. But I honestly think that’s gonna be one of the last things on his mind going into this fight.
Recently, Thug Nasty has found himself facing some criticism over some views he expressed with the government in an interview he did. To that I say who cares? If you don’t like it, nobody is forcing you to listen to him. Don’t watch his fights if that’s the case. But you’ll probably be missing out if you don’t tune in. The Arkansas native knows how to bring the house down. Saturday night should be no different.
