Well well well, how the turntables….After all the cryptic hints and all the run around, Aaron Rodgers is staying put in Green Bay. Rodgers agreed to a four-year $200 million extension in what was really a shocker. I mean, why? Why stay after everything that’s happened? Was it cause their path out of the NFC will be a bit easier now with Tampa Bay and Seattle gone? Maybe Rodgers wanted to re-sign all along but just wanted to screw with the team’s office for irritating him. Did Green Bay give him a lifetime supply of free cheese? Is he a part-owner or something now? Some will say he had 200 million reasons as to why he’s staying. Who knows maybe he can’t get enough of that Wisconsin ambiance.
In hindsight, it may have been the right call all along. After all, Green Bay has been the only franchise he’s been with his entire career, and he’s not quite drinking from the fountain of youth; though his stats might say otherwise. I’m no guru here, but I feel like after this whole situation, a Super Bowl win is kind of a must now for Rodgers.
What if he secretly still does want to watch Green Bay crumble at his feet so this whole contract re-signing is apart of a larger plot to destroy the franchise from within. Think about it. Of that $200 million, $153 million is guaranteed. Plus who hints that much at leaving and then re-signs like it was nothing. Either way you slice it, the Green Reaper strikes again. Only time will tell us what is to become.
I really just want to know what kind of cheese it was. The guy has to be bathing in it now right? If they didn’t give him a lifetime supply of free cheese I don’t know what else they could’ve done to get him to sign on for another half a decade. Maybe it was a bunch of gift cards from Harley Davidson or a signed football of all the San Francisco 49ers. He is their biggest fan after all.
Good for you Aaron Rodgers. Get that money honey. Or should I say squeeze that cheese.
