The 2022 IFP Wisconsin State Championships are in Full Swing

The IFP is back in action this weekend in Appleton, WI for the Wisconsin State Championships. I hope you greased those rods cause things are gonna get slippery. The action started yesterday with the Beginners Singles and Doubles division. Aaron Hall and John Waite brushed through the winner’s bracket to set up a finale against William Browning and Garret Hoffman. Browning and Hoffman were topped in their first match against Mohammed Ullah and Said Salazar, sending them to the loser’s bracket. They would get revenge however, overcoming Ullah and Salazar in a rematch in the loser’s bracket setting up a spot in the championship after they defeated Maya Balcos and Justin Bowder in the loser’s bracket finale. Hall and Waite would end up edging out Browning and Hoffman in the Beginner Doubles while Mike Patrick got the better of Tom Kelly in the Beginners Singles division. Patrick would top Kelly in their second match in Group B which he eventually won. Tom Kelly would storm through the loser’s bracket to set up a rematch against Mike Patrick in the championship but would be stopped once again. What can you do? Hard to beat a Patrick in the month of March. Thursday evening was rounded out with the Expert Mixed division with the #2 seed Tanya O’Loughlin and Jacob Balcos coming out victorious over #4 seed Eric Balcos and Maya Balcos. These four met in the winner of winner’s bracket with O’Loughlin and Balcos coming out on top sending Maya and Eric Balcos down to the loser’s bracket. They would run through the loser’s bracket setting up a rematch in the championship. Things would go the same way with Tanya O’Loughlin and Jacob Balcos coming out on top as the winner of the Mixed Doubles.

The Pro divisions start today as the Pro Doubles are in full swing with the Pro Singles starting later. Today’s play will be rounded out with the D.Y.P. (draw your partner) and Open Mixed division.
