On this day in 1945, the University of Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team sets an NCAA record beating Arkansas State by a score of 75-6. It was a record-low for points scored by a single team in an NCAA men’s basketball game. The Kentucky Wildcats would go on to lose in the elite eight (quarter-finals) of the 1945 NCAA men’s basketball tournament to Ohio State. It remains of the most lop-sided matchups in American sports history.
